Why I Wrote This Book
I wrote The Beginning Band Fun Book after years of teaching elementary instrumental music and watching young beginners struggle with materials that often asked them to process too much too soon.
A child in elementary school does not need a crowded page or a method racing toward middle-school material. Young students need large, readable notes, short assignments, a limited number of new ideas, clear fingerings and enough repetition to experience success.
That became the basic philosophy of the Beginning Band Fun Book series. The goal is not to see how quickly students can get through the book. The goal is to give them a successful first experience with their instrument so they develop good fundamentals, confidence and a desire to keep playing.
The online audio and video support extends that same approach beyond the classroom. A student can hear the music, watch the trumpet demonstration and then practice directly from the matching page in the book.

Best Beginning Trumpet Book for Kids
This book starts at the very beginning, so no previous trumpet experience is required. Its first section follows essentially the same teaching progression as The Beginning Band Fun Book for Trumpet, but the notation, illustrations and page layout are presented in a slightly more mature and compact format.
Students develop their first notes, fingerings, rhythms, articulation, tone and music-reading skills through the same familiar exercises and songs found in the Beginning Band Fun Book. Because the material corresponds so closely, the free Beginning Band Fun Book audio and trumpet video support can also be used with the first part of this book.
But this is much more than another first-year method. About halfway through the book, the student moves directly into intermediate and second-year material, with additional scales, arpeggios, technical studies, sixteenth notes, syncopation, 6/8 time, triplets, chromatic playing, ensemble music and increasingly advanced repertoire.
