As a reasonably proficient adult mandolin player who, until now, has learnt tunes both by ear and by TAB. Wishing to learn how to read standard notation, I bought the complete series of these books for young beginner violin students as they are far less intimidating than most books I’ve started but abandoned. The examples are printed nice and large so that they’re easy to read. This means there’s not too much information on each page to put you off or overwhelm you. I’m finding these books really helpful and motivating.

Excellent resource for reading notes on the g string. Aides in learning and reading ledger lines. A must have for teachers of beginners.
